Højlyngsstien

Højlyngsstien is a 67 km hiking trail that cuts across Bornholm, passing Hammerknuden, Slotslyngen, Rutsker Højlyng, Rø Plantage, Almindingen, Ølene and Paradisbakkerne. The trail winds through the old heathland, where rocky outcrops rise high and where farmers once grazed their livestock.

About this trail

Today, much of the old heathland has been reclaimed by forest, and it’s here you’ll find some of Bornholm’s most precious natural areas.

Along the trail, there are good opportunities for primitive overnight stays, including shelters, basic tent sites and areas where you can pitch a tent freely under the right of public access (allemansrätten). There are also several toilets and water posts along the route.
